This film is based on the 2001 novel of the same name written by Abidah El Khalieqy, a female writer from Jombang, East Java. The novel was adapted into a film script by Ginatri S. Noer and Hanung Bramantyo. This film presents the traditional background of a boarding school in East Java which tends to practice conservative traditions towards women and modern life. The film's dialogue is delivered in Indonesian, Javanese, and also sometimes Arabic which is often used in Islamic boarding schools. Starring : Revalina S.
